These days everyone loves to talk about "goddesses" and "male gods", and there's always someone saying they're "fishing" (a Cantonese expression — meaning they deliberately give off mixed signals so that others fall for them, all so they can reap the benefits). But have you ever noticed that there are plenty of very, very beautiful girls (genuine goddesses, not those fake ones, okay????) who actually don't have a single guy approaching them?
There's a theory in psychology called the Matching Hypothesis, which means that the reason two people are attracted to each other is based on their similarity — the more alike two people are, the more likely they are to be drawn to one another and become a couple. That similarity can be in values, interests, behavioural traits, family background, or even how good-looking they are. The more alike two people are, the more they'll have to talk about and the easier it is to break the ice, so naturally there's a far greater chance of things developing further. And this is also one small reason why couples are said to "grow to look alike" — because people who were similar to begin with are more likely to end up together in the first place.
So as it turns out, because the super top-tier goddess really is so out of everyone's league, the men around her all feel they're nothing like her (that they're just not good enough) and don't dare make a move. So to all you guys and girls out there: if there's someone you've got your eye on, please don't lose your nerve just because they seem too good for you. There may genuinely be no one else pursuing them, which means you'd be facing zero competition. ????????. Go for it — a true goddess doesn't "fish".
