Couple & marriage counselling (couples therapy) — 情侶輔導／婚姻輔導 in Chinese — is a safe, neutral space where, alongside a professional counsellor, the two of you relearn how to listen, express and understand each other. At TreeholeHK it takes place in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, or online, and is equally for dating, cohabiting and married couples.
Sometimes the problem isn't that the love runs shallow — it's that you're both trying so hard to speak, and neither of you feels truly heard.
Arguments become a habit; silence becomes a wall; every attempt to talk ends badly. None of this necessarily means you're wrong for each other — it's the relationship reminding you that some feelings and needs have gone unseen for too long.
When a relationship keeps getting hurt, separating isn't the only answer. As long as you still care about each other, and are willing to understand each other anew, repair and change are possible. Couple counselling offers a safe, neutral space to see the real needs behind the conflict — and relearn how to reach each other.

It's the public document that governs every psychological service at TreeholeHK — setting out, in writing, your rights and the commitments we make to you. Every practitioner you meet is bound by it.
Every practitioner you sit down with has passed our published selection criteria — all three dimensions met, or no invitation to join. Most applicants don't make it.
These criteria come straight from our Code of Psychological Service Practice: you have every right to know how the person across from you was chosen.
Each counsellor's background, focus areas, and how they see couple work. Choose together, based on your situation and what feels right.
Choose a slot that works for you both — in person or online.
Sessions are 75 minutes, with both partners attending as a rule. In the first session, your counsellor works with the two of you to clarify what you'd like to address and the broad direction — never to judge who's right.
The work adjusts to the rhythm of the two of you, with no preset timetable.
Every booking must be confirmed at least 48 hours before the session; new bookings and changes aren't accepted inside 48 hours. You can review or change your booking here — for anything else, email i@treehole.hk or call 9417 9844 during office hours.
Rescheduling and lateness: a confirmed booking means we've set that time aside for you. To change it, please do so here at least 48 hours before your appointment.
If you don't give notice at least 48 hours ahead, or miss the session without any notice, the full session fee still applies.
If you arrive late, the session runs for the time that's left, with no extension; arriving more than thirty minutes late is treated as forfeiting the session, and the fee isn't refunded.
Couple counselling works on the principle that both partners attend together — the focus is your communication patterns and emotional needs as a couple, not who's right or wrong. If your partner isn't ready yet, you can start with to make sense of your own feelings in the relationship, then invite them to join.
Yes. Couple counselling is for dating, cohabiting, married — any form of committed relationship. Whether you're working through difficulties or want a steadier foundation before a new stage, you're welcome.
Yes. Couples who have been together many years usually know each other's reactions very well — and have also collected some disappointments that were never said out loud. Those patterns took a long time to form, and they take time to see clearly.
Once there are children, each of you is carrying more roles — parent, partner, carer — and some weeks there's barely room for a proper sentence between you. We won't promise in advance what will change, or how fast. What we can offer is a safe, neutral space where a counsellor sits with the two of you, so you can hear what the other is actually saying, and explore a way forward together.
Yes. Couple counselling isn't only for when something is 'wrong' — it's for couples still willing to try, for each other, one more time. Many couples come proactively, to work through unresolved knots and strengthen the relationship before a crisis ever arrives.

What actually differs is the stage you're at, not the method. Dating or cohabiting couples often want to talk about pace and boundaries; couples married for many years usually bring a longer history and more family roles into the room. Whichever name you use, your counsellor does the same thing — in a safe, neutral space, helps the two of you see each other's communication patterns and emotional needs, and explore a way forward together.
Yes. Couple counselling can be in person or online (video). Just choose an online slot when you book — the session runs right in the browser with nothing to install, and the join link is on your confirmation email and order page.
Couple counselling is 75 minutes per session at $1,680. Sessions are held at Chinachem Johnston Plaza, 4/F (whole floor), 178 Johnston Road, Wan Chai, or online; the default language is Cantonese.
