Courses & Events
Courses — registration & payment
Once I've registered, can I just turn up to the course or event?
Yes — if you have received the order confirmation email, you can attend directly.
We do not send separate class reminders, so please check the schedule on our website. We apologise for any inconvenience.
If a course or event is changed or cancelled, we will notify you by email.
How do I receive student benefits after enrolling?
We share a student guide in the first class, which includes class notes and an introduction to student benefits.
When does registration close?
Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until full. You are welcome to register at any time!
Can I pay course fees in cash?
Yes, but you will need to book an appointment in advance to register at our office. Please call 9417 9844 to arrange.
Can I apply for the Continuing Education Fund (CEF)?
Our courses are not registered under the Continuing Education Fund.
Courses — arrangements & content
How do I receive class information (cancellations, rescheduling, notes and benefits)?
We send all of the above by email — please keep an eye on your inbox.
If I miss a class, is there a recording?
We do not record in-person classes, but we share class materials to help you catch up. If needed, the instructor can give you a brief recap before the next class, and every class comes with notes to support your learning.
We can also arrange for you to retake the same class when the course next runs. Please note that we cannot guarantee a course will run again, and we do not send individual updates — if you would like to retake a class, please follow our course announcements and contact us directly.
Will there be another run of the course?
The latest course news is published on our website.
When will I receive my course certificate?
If your attendance reaches 80%, we will email you an e-certificate within two weeks of the final class.
Will classes be cancelled or postponed for bad weather, instructor sick leave or other emergencies?
Severe weather
- If the Observatory issues a black rainstorm warning or typhoon signal No. 8 or above within two hours before class, that class is cancelled and we will email you the make-up arrangements as soon as possible.
- Classes run as scheduled under typhoon signal No. 3 or a red rainstorm warning or below.
Other situations
- If a class needs to be rescheduled due to instructor sick leave or other emergencies, we will email you the make-up arrangements as soon as possible. Please make sure your email address is correct so you receive our notices.
Do courses require prior knowledge?
Our public courses are open to learners of all backgrounds, unless the course page specifically states that background knowledge is required.
What language are courses taught in?
Public courses are mainly taught in Cantonese. Any special arrangements are noted in the course description.
Can I become a counsellor / psychologist / related professional after completing a course?
Psychology, counselling and related professions all require extended study and practical experience. Our courses are designed as an accessible introduction to the core theory and its applications — if you are considering a career in this direction, they will help you clarify your interests and potential.
Events & workshops
I registered for an event but can no longer attend. Can I cancel?
Members: please let us know as soon as possible via WhatsApp, email or 9417 9844, so we can release your place to other members.
Non-members with single registration: if you notify us at least 48 hours before the event, we will cancel your registration and reserve your ticket, which you can use for free at the next event.
Can I pay for events and workshops in cash?
Yes, but you will need to book an appointment in advance to register at our office. Please call 9417 9844 to arrange.
I'm not in Hong Kong — can I join your events?
Unless otherwise stated, all our events currently take place in Hong Kong.
What happens in bad weather?
We will email you the rescheduling arrangements. Please make sure your email address is correct so you receive our notices.
Team Building
What are the arrangements regarding venues, locations, and languages?
Venue: Treehole facilitators can provide on-site Team Building services at your location. We can also arrange venues on your behalf, with options across Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, and the New Territories, suitable for both large and small-scale events.
Location: We are happy to offer services in nearby regions such as Macau, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. For larger events, we can also travel worldwide.
Language: All activities can be conducted in Cantonese, English, or Mandarin.
What are the benefits of Team Building activities?
In Team Building activities, participants, with the guidance of a facilitator, rethink their collaborative approaches. For example, if a facilitator observes a highly articulate but introverted colleague, they can guide them to express their opinions more often, helping them build confidence and allowing other team members to recognize their strengths.
In summary, Team Building aims to provide a work-like environment where colleagues can freely experiment and feel safe to fail. This approach reveals the characteristics of existing team dynamics or work patterns and uncovers opportunities for improvement.
Counselling Services
Psychotherapy services
Changing an appointment
All appointments must be confirmed at least 48 hours before the session. Within 48 hours, we cannot accept new bookings or changes.
Please go to your account to view or change your appointments. For help, contact [email protected] or call 9417 9844 during office hours.
Rescheduling and late arrival
- A confirmed booking means the time has been reserved for you. Any change must be made at least 48 hours before the session.
- If you do not give at least 48 hours' notice, or miss the session without notice, the full session fee is still payable.
- If you arrive late, the session runs for the remaining scheduled time without extension. Arriving more than 30 minutes late is treated as forfeiting the session, and the fee is not refunded.
Do you offer couples or family counselling?
We do not yet offer family counselling, but we are working on expanding our services — if there is a service you would like to see, email us at [email protected].
We do not yet offer couples counselling as a standalone service, but you can book two consecutive psychotherapy sessions with Fion Leung, Yanni Ip, Wai Law, Eddy To or Winnie Wong. Please book both sessions together (e.g. 13:00 and 14:00) and note in the remarks that it is a two-person session, including your relationship.
Can I request a specific therapeutic approach?
Your therapist will meet you first to understand your situation, then choose the approach that suits you best.
I'm not in emotional distress, but I'd like a space to talk and explore myself. Is psychotherapy right for me?
If you are not facing a specific emotional difficulty and mainly want long-term guidance and self-understanding, consider our ForestGuide consultation service.
If you are experiencing emotional distress that is affecting, or may affect, your daily life, we recommend our psychotherapy services.
Do you offer psychotherapy in English?
Yes, we offer English consultation services. Please check whether the counsellor you have selected provides counselling services in English, then add a remark indicating your language preference when you confirm a booking.
ForestGuide consultations
Is this the same as psychotherapy?
ForestGuide differs from traditional psychotherapy: it takes a consultation approach, working with you to uncover your potential, re-examine where you are, and grow in self-awareness. If you find you need psychotherapy, we also offer dedicated psychotherapy services.
I'm dealing with emotional distress — is ForestGuide right for me?
If your distress is within your control and not disrupting daily life, and you want to understand why certain people or situations affect you — with long-term guidance for self-improvement — ForestGuide is a great fit.
If your distress is seriously affecting your daily life and you urgently need therapy, we also offer psychotherapy services.
Can I add consultations beyond my membership plan?
Yes! We encourage members to agree the most suitable frequency with their ForestGuide. Consultations beyond your membership are charged at $1,280 per session, with no usage limit.
We generally recommend keeping a monthly rhythm — your ForestGuide can build a plan with you and work through it together. When you need closer support, you can arrange weekly or fortnightly sessions with your ForestGuide.
Can sessions be held online?
Yes — choose Zoom when booking, and your ForestGuide will send you the Zoom link.
Do you offer ForestGuide consultations in English?
Yes, our ForestGuides offer English consultation services. Please check whether the counsellor you have selected provides services in English, then add a remark indicating your language preference when you confirm a booking.
Please note the BIG5 test result is written in traditional Chinese. Your ForestGuide will explain it to you verbally in English in the first session if needed.
